999 Silver Krugerrand 1oz BU Coin 5 Piece Lot in Plastic Flip. 2020 South Africa Krugerrand Silver 1 Ounce (oz) Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) Condition Coin 5 Piece Lot in Plastic Flips. 2017 marked the first ever mintage of a silver Krugerrand and 2020 is the fourth year issue BUT the third year issue as a BU condition coin. Each coin is 1 Rand in denomination of South African Legal Tender, 1 Ounce (31.107 grams) in weight and 38.725mm in diameter. 2020 Silver Krugerrands The Krugerrand was the first modern gold bullion coin to be issued by any country, and was instantly sought after by collectors all over the world. When other countries saw the international demand created by the Krugerrand, many issued gold coins of their own, including the US Gold eagle and Canadian Gold Maple leaf issues. First struck in 1967, the Krugerrand design was based on historic coins of South Africa, and the design has remained unchanged for over three decades. The reverse design depicts a Springbok Antelope, and was taken from the 1947 crown for the Royal visit to South Africa. The name Krugerrand was derived from Kruger (President Paul Kruger) and Rand (for the South African monetary unit).
