Blade thickness (near tip). Satin finished Bohler M390 stainless steel. Terraced black Timascus pivot collar. Carbon fiber with marble carbon fiber inlay. He took up knife making in 2005 and became a member of the Knifemakers Guild of Southern Africa by 2007. He works in a one man shop and even builds most of his machines himself! He is clearly a maker to keep an eye on! The Palladium model designed by Jared Van Otterloo (JVO) is the newest knife coming out of JD’s shop. This Persian influenced design is extremely lightweight and has an ergonomic handle that feels great in any grip. The blade is perfectly centered with silky smooth action — easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous flipper toggle. It uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play. The raised clip blade is formed from M390 stainless steel, a super-steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it due to its high concentration of vanadium and chromium carbides. Its unique powder metallurgical process also promotes a uniform carbide distribution and clean steel properties, making M390 a popular steel used in surgical cutting instruments and in applications requiring a high finish. It offers excellent corrosion resistance due to its high concentration of chromium. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. Handle scales are formed from tightly woven carbon fiber with marble carbon fiber inlaid beautifully into the handle. This provides a unique look that draws you in for closer examination. A terraced Black Timascus titanium damascus pivot ring is meticulously inlaid to add flash. Purple anodized titanium liners surround a carbon fiber backbar. Jimping along the liner lock makes disengaging the lock particularly easy. Texturing on the flipper tab makes it very easy to deploy. The black titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry. The item “JD van Deventer Palladium Flipper” is in sale since Tuesday, March 24, 2020.
