Another eBayer tells me the scales are NOT warthog tusk as originally listed, but giraffe bone instead!! Famed knife maker Arno Bernard expanded his business in recent years to include all four of his sons. This knife was originally advertised to me as one of the son’s first foray into knife making. However, the company’s web page says two of Arno’s sons collaborated to make a knife business and called it JAB. I’m not sure which is correct as far as authorizing the JAB letters etched on the mirror-finished blade, but it’s a beauty with very polished giraffe bone scales. The Bernards are known for often using scales made from animals native to South Africa. It’s a sweet little knife numbered FIX 151 on label attached to sheath. Thanks for your interest! A highly collectible Rob Brown Clip Point Utility Knife. The steel used for this blade is Hitachi ATS 34 hardened to 59 Rockwell C and mirror polished and features an engraving of a Trout on one side and a Duck on the other. The handle is made from jigged and dyed giraffe shin bone. The sale includes the Buffalo hide hand stitched sheath formed to fit the blade. The Knifemakers Guild of South Africa gave an award of excellence which was presented to Rob Brown in the category of Bird and Trout for this knife.
