This is a stunning example of quality modernist jewellery from South African jewellery designer WWL. The pendant will date between the 1950s to 1970s and is in lovely condition. Very stylish piece that comes complete with a sterling silver chain of good length for the pendant approx 47cm/ 18.5. The approx dimensions of the pendant are as follows: including bale 56mm drop, 42mm long without bale, 35mm at widest, 4mm deep silver oval, tigers eye stone 24 x 18mm, total depth of silver and stone 12mm, a good weight at over 24g (20.6g including the silver chain). The pendant is marked sterling and WWL. The chain is marked 925 (for sterling silver) on both ends of the clasp. This is in really lovely condition, with only light signs of wear and age eg minke surface scratches and some tarnish to interior sections. The stone is in excellent condition with no notable faults and has a lovely sheen. It is provided in the new complimentary box and so is ideal for gifting and for safe keeping. Fine Quality Modernist Sterling Silver Bracelet set with Beautiful Large Blue Lace Agate Cabochons. 1970s Studio Jewellery signed W. This is handmade studio piece with a nice weight to the silver set with Beautiful large natural Blue Lace Agate Cabochons each measuring 15 mms x 12 mms. Each bracelet section measures approximately 19 mms square. The total length of the bracelet is approximately 7 inches and it fastens securely with a bolt ring fastener. A pleasing weight on the wrist too at approximately 33 gms total weight for the bracelet. This elegant modernist silver bracelet dates from around the mid century 1970’s era and has a strong modernist minimalist designer look to it. I have seen several very fine pieces of jewellery from this South African Studio but there is little information otherwise about them. The bracelet stands in its own right as a very beautiful piece of 1970s modernist jewellery that is elegant and stylish enough to blend with both casual and formal outfits alike. The original founders of Haglund’s, Hans Blum & Rolf Waizenegger (two German goldsmith cousins) had for many years made modern and organic designed jewelry often well ahead of their time. Because of political difficulties in South Africa in the 60s, they branched out into ethnic jewelry. Their vintage pieces are difficult to find and sought after by collectors.
