The first year of issue of South Africa Proof Sets with 747 minted. Half Crown to copper Farthing. In my rich Numismatic career I have handled this set often but it is only the first time this set comes in the original Mappin and Webb (London) case of issue. I have only encountered another some 8 years ago (the Gold set on the other hand is normally found in the box). All coins BUNC, with variable degrees of toning especially so on the copper coinage.
