Mint Sealed – WHY SETTLE FOR A CHERRY PICKED COIN? 2019 South Africa R2 “Polymer Putty” aka’Moon Landing’ coin. One thing that is unusual about this coin is that the dies were laser etched. The sky/stars/ galaxy seen in the background is incredibly fine due to laser etching of the dies. This is hard to explain and even harder to photograph. If you have seen the archosaur coin in person and seen the mountain and clouds background then perhaps the previous statement will make sense. But note that the coin looks different than in the’sterilized’ version of the photo provided by the mint. I imagine it is because you have to tilt the coin “just so” in order to capture the fine background. This is one of the better looking coins that the South African Mint has ever designed and struck! This comes as shown, mint-sealed in a plastic package with standard mint packaging inside. This does come with a C. A (Certificate of Authenticity). Cert # 251 OR 250. I collect South African coins and I got frustrated with the lack of mint-sealed coins. Out of frustration I developed a way that would enable me to get the latest coins direct from the mint. This coin is accurately described as being a 2019 South Africa R2 “polymer putty” in Mint-sealed packaging and that is precisely what you will get. The photos shows an example of the mint sealed package that you will get, and the photos show also what the coin looks like according to the mint website as well as one from one of my sets. The coin photos are from the mint and aren’t of the exact coin itself since it is impossible to photograph them with them being mint sealed and all.
