The Black Rhinoceros is a critically endangered species native to the eastern and southern regions of Africa. The 2020 Black Rhino silver proof coin measures 38.72 mm in diameter, its mintage limited to only 3,000 pieces. Clever Bisected Black Rhino Imagery. Featured on the reverse is pair of Black Rhinos, depicting half of each creature’s face flanking a round emblem bearing the inscriptions “FIVE RAND, ” “1 OZ” and AG 999. The coin’s inspired design is intended to be perceived as a crash of rhinos when several coins are placed side-by-side. The obverse design illustrates a single Black Rhino advancing forward.
