The South African Mint finally gave collectors what they had long wanted in 2017 when they released the first ever Silver Krugerrands. Steynberg shows it with its head slightly turned, thus giving the holder a clearer look at its horns. The coin’s name, “KRUGERRAND, ” arches over the animal, while the date, “2020, ” is split by it, with two digits on either side. Inscriptions at the bottom of the rim note the coin’s weight in Afrikaans and English, “FYNSILWER 1 OZ FINE SILVER, ” as well as its face value, R2. Perfect PF70 UC FR with South African Flag Label. Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) provided the grading information for this coin on a label that bears the South African flag. NGC graded the piece Proof 70, which means that it appears perfect under 5x magnification. They also certified it Ultra Cameo and First Releases. Ultra Cameo means that it has deeply mirrored fields and heavily frosted devices that contrast particularly sharply, while First Releases means that it was submitted for grading no more than 30 days after its initial release from the mint.
